I am a wife, a mother, an auntie and a friend. I love thrifting, garage sales, re-purposing, creating, painting, anything that makes our little rental home more welcoming, comfortable and cozy. I have discovered the "art" of amateur photography & I love the idea of capturing the beauty in the ordinary everyday things that surround us. Blogging is a wonderful way to make new friends and share with people who have the same interests. My personal taste in decorating leans towards "casual cottage/coastal decor". I now have a small shop on etsy, called "SandySeashore" where you'll find some of my vintage finds, my photography and some handmade things. I hope you take the time to check it out! Thanks for droppin' in!

Frugal Frenchie's Friday Finds

Today my dear friend Karen and I went on our occasional Friday thrifting tour. We scored big time.....I found a great little top for Mexico for 4$, when I was ready to pay for it, the woman said: "Did you girls know today is fill a bag for 5$ day?".....Needless to say, we quickly grabbed a bag each and filled those suckers as much as we could! I ended up with a brand new white waffled bathrobe and 4 new tops + a nice pair of fleece pants for hubby.  Karen left with her bag even fuller than mine and tons of goodies! Then off we went to the old chapel thrift store where I found what I think is a great little treasure!

On my way to the cash register, I spotted a painting of a rocky beach with turquoise blue water, which instantly sparked a memory of Isla Mujeres in Mexico, and a picture I took of the rocks and Carribean while at the lookout of a little lighthouse there, nicely framed for 5$, so I grabbed it. I didn't even look for an artist signature or check the back, because it was love at first sight. To my delight, when I got home later, it's signed and dated and tucked in the back is the artist's biography! It's by Robert Ascroft, it's called "Wild Coast Too" and was painted in 2003. I just LOVE it!
                                                                 SCORE!!!!!!!!

This is the picture I took from the top of the little lighthouse.

The photo of the painting does not do it justice, the colors of the water are exactly like the Carribean.

Now, the frame is  charcoal (very dark, should I paint it or should I leave it as is? hmmmmm.

Thanks for your sweet message over at my little blog. So many people do not understand - living in a smaller space does not mean living without comfort! :)
