I am a wife, a mother, an auntie and a friend. I love thrifting, garage sales, re-purposing, creating, painting, anything that makes our little rental home more welcoming, comfortable and cozy. I have discovered the "art" of amateur photography & I love the idea of capturing the beauty in the ordinary everyday things that surround us. Blogging is a wonderful way to make new friends and share with people who have the same interests. My personal taste in decorating leans towards "casual cottage/coastal decor". I now have a small shop on etsy, called "SandySeashore" where you'll find some of my vintage finds, my photography and some handmade things. I hope you take the time to check it out! Thanks for droppin' in!

A Day Well Spent at The Little Mexican Cooking School!

While on our recent trip to Puerto Morelos, Mexico, we spent a delicious day at The Little Mexican Cooking School. It was such a great way to spend the day! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (and the food), not your typical "touristy" thing to do, but definitely worth the time and money!

- Authentic Mexican Cooking Classes -

The food of Mexico has the distinction of being one of the world's first fusion cuisines. It uses an alluring blend of flavors from the Spanish with those of this country's fascinating indigenous people. Mexican food is known world-wide for its hot and spicy kick, yet its truly authentic dishes have much more to offer than just heat!
Are you looking for a different adventure to round out your holiday? Then this is the right place!
Their entertaining classes include a light breakfast and full-on Mexican comida fuerte (hearty lunch), complete with festive drinks.
You'll learn the traditions and culture of these foods and drinks, as well as the methods in which to make them. So, whether you are a novice in the kitchen, or a gastronome looking to expand your repertoire... it's a scrumptious food adventure you won't forget.
Chef Pablo  Espinosa is not only talented & knowledgeable, he's also quite funny!

Pineapple Salsa....mm mm. Made with fresh pineapple, mint, red onion, jalapeno & lime.
Delicious Guacamole! Made with buttery avocado, Jalapeno, tomato and onion. Mm mm.

Catarina our lovely host...gave us history lessons on everything!
"Papas con Nopales" a lovely medley of little potatoes and cactus leaf.

A newlywed couple who chipped in to help the chef.
Fantastic Panuchos! A little fried tortilla filled with beans, topped with chicken, red onion, tomatoes and yummy avocado. My mouth waters every time I look at this picture!

 Pork ribs adobo with potatoes.
Mike's absolute favourite thing...."Sopa de Lima", Lime Soup. It was very, very good.

 A beautiful Mexican Chocolate Tart.

We sampled various drinks, including Xtabentun and Tequila.
Xtabentun is a tasty liqueur made with anise seed and honey.

 Everyone enjoying their delicious meal.
Chef Pablo, his two lovely helpers and Mike and I.

Cap off your day with a stroll around the charming Mexican village of Puerto Morelos enjoying the shops, local cafes and beach-side cocktails.

It was so nice to do something different from the typical touristy stuff!
An all around great experience!

We would definitely recommend
"The Little Mexican Cooking School"
to anyone going to that area in the Mayan Riviera.
 Thanks for following,
xx

  1. When I was in my 20s, I spent quite a bit of time in Ensenada and loved everything about it. The slower paced life, the friendly people - and oh my - the food! :)
This little adventure in cooking sounds fabulous! Gorgeous photos too!
Wishing you a lovely weekend, Sandra!
