I am a wife, a mother, an auntie and a friend. I love thrifting, garage sales, re-purposing, creating, painting, anything that makes our little rental home more welcoming, comfortable and cozy. I have discovered the "art" of amateur photography & I love the idea of capturing the beauty in the ordinary everyday things that surround us. Blogging is a wonderful way to make new friends and share with people who have the same interests. My personal taste in decorating leans towards "casual cottage/coastal decor". I now have a small shop on etsy, called "SandySeashore" where you'll find some of my vintage finds, my photography and some handmade things. I hope you take the time to check it out! Thanks for droppin' in!

Is it time for me to say Bye Bye to Blogging?

Hello my lovely followers. I started this blog in the beginning of 2011. I was enjoying checking out a lot of decorating/DIY blogs and it had been suggested to me that I start my own. I thought, why not? I'll give it a try for 6 months or so, see if it's worth the work involved.

I've spent a few hours reviewing my posts, the comments my wonderful followers leave me, and of course my stats. The comments are very much appreciated, and encourage me to continue on my quest to beautify the world one project at a time! LOL, However, my stats SUCK. I know some bloggers say the stats should not matter, one should enjoy blogging no matter how many followers they have....(except those who say that have tons of followers).  And I agree with that to a certain extent, but for me, 29 bloggers in more than 6 months isn't cutting it. It is a time consuming pass time, meant to be a creative outlet and an opportunity to share ideas and inspire others to try their hands at DIY.

So I am now at a crossroads...Should I continue blogging or should I take up quilting and turn the computer off? LOL.  Does anyone have words of wisdom for me? I am at a loss. I'm on the blogging fence and need to figure this out!

To blog or not to blog? That is the question....

Thanks for your input!

xx
Sandra

  1. Dear Sandra,
I can not tell you to continue just for me, but I have enjoyed your posts. If you are still on the fence as I write this, maybe this film will help you in some small way. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1135503/
Julie and Julia is a film about a blogger, like yourself, who wasn't sure about the whole idea until she make a commitment to a goal.
    I hope this helps.

    All the best,

  2. I get where you are coming from, as it is something I ask myself every now and then, too. I have so much to do I barely have time for anything, so why do I bother to put in the effort if it really isn't going anywhere? Wouldn't it be enough to do it for myself but with a far more relaxed schedule, i.e. posting when I felt like it and not worrying about losing readers? I haven't come to a conclusion yet, but I once read a quote that helped me a lot. One person going through the same thoughts said "Sometimes I hate my blog." and then another person replied "Yeah. And sometimes you don't." And that's what it's like :-)

  3. I for one say give it another go and see what happens. I sent you an email so hopefully that helps a little. :) I would miss you LOTS but you should enjoy it and have fun with it. No matter what (even though I think that you are one of the most creative and talented do-it-your-selfer who can just whip up things with stone, wood or whatever material she finds) I have made a wonderful kindred and soul sister for life!!
    Love you my friend!!!

  4. I think we all get to that point sooner or later. What is your heart telling you? If you feel you have something to say or share then keep on doing what you are doing. Or maybe just take a little break. Trust your instincts.

    Take good care,

    Karen

  5. Love your creative ideas & enjoyed your posts ...that's what I can say.

I'm in a similar situation as you do, Sandra. However, I totally agree with Karen {Kaybe}: Trust your instict! And... {that's important to me}: I've to learn to be patient ;-)

  6. Blogging doesn't have to be all or nothing. There will be times when you will be inspired to post and other times when you are not. It all comes down to what expectations you have created for yourself. There are times when we want to be challenged and times when we need to chill out. Just enjoy!
